Say No To Sex

This Thursday morning has given me renewed my fear of any word that includes sexual. I am scared of the words homosexual, heterosexual, metrosexual, pansexual, psychosexual, unisexual, transexual, bisexual, asexual. I want to banish them all. Too much time, too much money, too much thought is devoted to advancing the commodity and ideology of sexual enlightenment.

“A minor who is 12 years of age or older and who may have come into contact with an infectious, contagious, or communicable disease may consent to medical care related to the diagnosis or treatment of the disease, if the disease or condition is one that is required by law or regulation adopted pursuant to law to be reported to the local health officer, or is a related sexually transmitted disease, as may be determined by the State Director of Health Services.” Cal. Family Code § 6926(a).

I am outraged to learn that 12 year-old children in California have the right to obtain STD treatment without parental consent. What type of messages are being presented to these children? Without parental guidance I am concerned that there will be a definite lack of moral responsibility, lack of understanding of consequences. Each generation childhood years become shorter. In theory in a few isolated cases it might be acceptable for children to have this right. But such a right comes with grave responsibility.

12 year-old children still need their parents input and guidance.

I am aware that sexual activity begins earlier and earlier. The statistics are frightening. What is being done to educate and encourage children and young people to abstain from sexual activity? Is “No” still an option? Our mainstream culture is permissive, accepting of almost everything. For adults who can make informed decisions this is acceptable, for children this is completely unacceptable.

There is a need for good old fashioned morality. It is very sad to see that sexual morality is seen sexual abnormality in the secular world, in popular culture. Virginity in many movies aimed at high school audiences is seen as a negative, as something that stigmatizes. A new message needs to be sent to the children in this country to remain being children.

The sexual revolution attacks us every single day. The casualties of this war are children. If the unofficial age of consent in California is 12 what is it here? in Nebraska? Florida? New York? Does anyone care?

Parental guidance and responsibility are under attack. Parents should be involved in all decisions involving their children, especially medical decisions.

As Catholics we are asked to keep informed on all issues, to keep our prayers filled with charity, compassion, and hope.

Now, in California there is new legislation giving 12 year old children consent for HPV treatment without parental consent waiting the signature of the California Governor. Hopefully, he will veto it.
